“Fascinating”

Gotta visit this museum and site. Historical, beautiful and very well maintained. Great to learn about China in the museum.

I visited this site in 1993 then again in October 2019. As evidenced in many places on this recent trip, China has done a great job in bringing its premier attractions up to world class. This was an interesting and informative site with English text for most of the information. My imperfect recollections of 1993 was that it was essentially an empty space with a plaque.

Big change from 1993 to 2019

A Must Visit

This is one of the most amazing contradictions that you will come across in any trip to China. Located in the renovated, and very upscale, French Concession this museum is fascinating, And it marks one of the most important turning points in 20th century history. It is also the CPC equivalent of our Independence Hall. In a flashback to the mid 20th century, the audiotour is narrated in Communism's best socialist rhetoric. It is a fascinating trip. What made this really contradictory was that it is around the corner from a Starbuck's, where we posted on Facebook, and shares the neighborhood with every major restaurant and bar chain in the western world.

A site commemorating the revolutionary CCP

The first two congresses of the CCP were inspired by the goals of communism before coming under the influence of Stalin's nationalist policies, which sacrificed the Chinese revolution. It is great to see this history preserved.
