This beautiful old jazz club evokes a feeling of pre-revolutionary Shanghai. The ancient musicians play a hip mix of western and Chinese standards. As the night goes on a young lady joins them to add vocals

The old timers in the band (eldest in his 90's) entertained us with their swing and style from the 1930's. Sitting within the beautiful Art Deco hotel, we were transported back to a time depicted in movies and books of the decadent days of the...More

Six eighty year olds are probably not going to swing the house down and they didn't. But the atmosphere in one of Shanghai's most palatial and atmospheric buildings made this a memorable night.

The Bund
While there are certainly many other “bunds” in the
world, “the Bund” refers to Shanghai’s famous
waterfront. The area’s Gothic, Art Deco and Beaux Arts
monoliths were built when it was part of the Shanghai
International Settlement run by the British and
Americans. The atmosphere of colonial-era luxury has
endured over time and is now found in the five-star
hotels, luxury brand boutiques and expensive
