Worth a stop for a jazz lover

The main draw of Peace Hotel for me was the jazz history there. There has been jazz music performed there since the 1930s. Excellent cocktails at the bar. As a jazz aficionado it... read more

We just wanted to see the old jazz guys (average 82 years old!) and had a perfect time. You need to have a minimum consumption of RMB 200 per person, which is fair, because the place is nice, the band is making a special atmosphere and the best is the public. We immediately had some contact to other guest. Drinking... More

I have been to Shanghai several times but had never been there until my boyfriend took me there when he visited last time he was there. There was a great atmosphere inside and it was interesting to learn of the history of the place and the Jazz Club. While there is a minimum spend, it equates to about 2 cocktails... More

Worth a visit. Average age of the musicians is 82 years old and they've been playing at the Peace Hotel since 1980. Inspiring, charming, don't miss it.

The main draw of Peace Hotel for me was the jazz history there. There has been jazz music performed there since the 1930s. Excellent cocktails at the bar. As a jazz aficionado it wasn't the most amazing music I've ever seen but the best part was the enthusiasm of all of the musicians. It did seem to get busy at... More

It's a small jazz bar that has 6 musicians that are all around 80 years old and have been playing their forever. It's a more enjoyable experience if you know the history behind it before you go. It's busy and hard to find a seat. The food is ok but you're there for the experience of history. It's in a... More

This is a great place. Such an ensemble of talents of the seniors. You can feel their passion when they perform. Should at least visit it once. We were there twice in the beginning of the year..

Went here on my last night in town with a friend. There is a minimum spend of 200rmb a person with most drinks (poured strong) priced around 100rmb so essentially a two drink minimum. Absolutely worth every penny. Service was impeccable, the jazz delightful and the atmosphere transported me to the 1920s. Don't expect to be able to order dessert... More

Loved this bar - the band was a lot of fun. It is quite a scene. Drinks were not the best we had in Shanghai but were ok.

Staying in The Bund

Neighbourhood Profile
The Bund
While there are certainly many other “bunds” in the world, “the Bund” refers to Shanghai’s famous waterfront. The area’s Gothic, Art Deco and Beaux Arts monoliths were built when it was part of the Shanghai International Settlement run by the British and Americans. The atmosphere of colonial-era luxury has endured over time and is now found in the five-star hotels, luxury brand boutiques and expensive restaurants that can be found within the historic buildings. A cultural center has built up away from the water and some of Shanghai’s best art galleries and museums are housed close to the Bund. Nighttime views of Pudong and the rest of the city also make for a great backdrop at the many rooftop clubs.
