Have a guide take you thru this Temple. With explanations it means much more. The two jade statues are gorgeous and if you have the time, read and enjoy the photos.

We were only in Shanghai for two days. It was the first temple we visited and it was really nice. There are active worshippers so taking photos was a bit awkward. I would recommend it.

Summary: Chinese Prayers, Chinese Status of Gods, Typical traditions, Expensive Original souvenirs If you want to see the Chinese prayers, you have to visit this temple. I went on a Sunday, I guess it is the day of their prayers. It is quite original to see such prayers and the full sequence. I was surprised to see each step in... More

Interesting Buddhist temple, and a nice place to visit since there are actual real believers there, rather than just tourists. I must admit that the buddha statue itself was a slight disappointment, though.

The devotion on the faces of the worshippers is a surprise for tourists to China like me, who assume that severe indoctrination would have erased all such feelings. However the beauty and solemnity of the surroundings generate their own inspirations in the most agnostic of visitors.

We visited this temple through subway we stop at Changsu Rd.station and we almost lost and stop looking for it but we asked the security without knowing English he used his phone thru google and finally we found it. There's a lot of buddhas and the Jade Buddha can't take photo. Nice and worth to visit.

Active temple for worship. Interesting to sit and people watch - many people do just that (locals and tourists). Many worshipers praying and burning incense. Complex contains several buildings - most are small with barely enough space for a few devote to enter, so most people make their prayers in front of the open door.

It is still used and pilgrims/believers are all around, mixing with the tourists. All buddhas are beautiful, but the jade seated buddha is wonderful. Shame you can't photograph it.

Must visit this ancient site. The Jade Buddha is truly superb, a sublime experience. The other images of Shakyamuni flanked by the Buddha of the East and West , God of Mercy for example, are also awesome. There are cushions for prayer.

This is a working temple , so please respect the worshippers. The grounds are interesting to visit, make sure you are guided around as to understand the meanings of the gods. The jade budda is interesting to visit , pity photos are not allowed.
