Zhongsham Road is the thoroughfare on which the buildings that contribute to an area known as The Bund stand. There are some outstanding examples of Neoclassical and Art Deco architectural styles here. As an architecture buff, I enjoyed walking on the sidewalk by the road to get a close look at details on the buildings and to go into some that especially appealed. For example, the historic Fairmont Peace Hotel welcomes visitors to its magnificent Art Deco ground floor and small Peace Museum on the first floor. But entry is from East Nanjing Road rather than Zhongshan.

This lively road holds a variety of businesses, including shops and restaurants, and is especially busy at night when what seems like a never-ending wall of people take to the sidewalk. Many step into the road to go at a faster pace.

The big draw after dark is the Pudong skyline across the Huangpu River with tall, modern buildings beautifully illuminated. But the best view is not from the road. Cross the street and climb the steps to the promenade along the river. Then walk along the river or sit on a bench and simply enjoy the stunning view.

This street goes along the Bund, and whilst it is recommendable to visit some of the neo-classical buildings (which are only accessible from Zhong Shan Road) it is equally recommendable to talk the Bund promenade that you can access by just crossing the street. TOP address for a tourist visit in Shanghai

The Zhongshan Road is quite popular, packed and busy most of the time, though evenings get rather busy with tourists. Its a nice road to go for a walk to enjoy the view of the Shanghai skyline, which is really remarkable.

Located in the most posh business area, you can enjoy strolling on this road especially in the night when neon lit billboards are illuminated on both the sides.

Stroll the length of road as long as you have energy. Fabulous historical buildings lining the road, mostly occupied by banks, financial institutes, and high-end hotels. Must-see for anyone interested in architecture or history (or people-watching)!

The best time to visit here is in the evening. It takes so much time to walk from the Yu Garden but it's worth while if you start walking the promenade.

Spectacular view.
Pls chose time for visiting btw 5 pm and 7 pm, when the sunset has warm colors.
There is a lot of cafes and restaurants with good view.
Try to stay away from the central part of the road, it's most overcrowded.
the nearest subway (LuJiaZui) is about 5 mins away. Don't forget your camera.

The moment one sets foot on this road, the colonial touch becomes apparent. The bund on one side makes the road ever more attractive. Hordes walk on this this road crossing over to the bund at every traffic light. The ideal time to be on this street is at night when the buildings are lit up - a sight not to be missed. As one walks on the bund the distinction with the Pudong area becomes apparent - the high rise on Pudong side and the colonial era buildings towards Zhongshan Road.
