"Pudong, in its 13-year history, has surprisingly progressed in its economic strength and its urban development. This 556-sqaure-kilometer farmland 13 years ago is well on its way toward a modern metropolis. As the epitome of Shanghai' modernization and the symbol of China's reform and opening up drive, Pudong has become an ideal land for global investors." http://pudong.shanghaichina.org/jiangsx.htm

It is developed so much and become to the most beautiful area. Years ago, I went to that area to finish my collage life and I am so proud it is become to be the most beautiful place.

The architecture alone is worth a visit to this area. Stunning circular foot bridge with views of spectacular futuristic architecture. Disney store, Apple and other shopping malls with great eateries in the locale.

The Pudong area where the large buildings are is great to visit and go up the the tops of those buildings and view all over the Shanghai region. You will take lots of pics from up there so pick a nice clear day if you can. Also the Aquarium is good and there is a nice park to walk through... More

As you enter Pudong through tunnel , amazing skyscrapers welcome you. Elevated walkways connect almost all the buildings which represents modern China. Many eating joints , shopping malls and offices are there. Disney store creats atmosphere of Disneyland. You can spend hours in Pudong.

A very modern part of Shanghai, worth spending the day. Went up the Shanghai World Finance Centre (bottle opener) and the new Shanghai Tower - the world's 2nd tallest building. Pick a clear day or you won't see much. Also great shopping and restaurants everywhere.

A lovely new area, but with bits of green and "old bits" scattered throughout. Great for shopping, food and entertainment, plenty of hotels. Getting around, taxis and the underground rail system, if using a taxi, try to have the address written in Chinese as most drivers only speak Chinese.

Paying a visit to Pudong River, you may find totally 2 different sights on 2 sides of the river. one side is quite modern, having a lot of high rises and sky scrapers, while the other side has quite ancient architecture with buildings not higher than 3 floor high. take a walk, have some pictures and if you have a... Shanghai stands as an amazing story of rapid development. Before 1990, there were no true high rise buildings or subway system. Pudong is built on reclaimed land. Now the skyline rivals that of Hong Kong and boasts the 2nd and 4th tallest buildings in the world. It has a subway system (still somewhat under construction) that rivals any in the... More

Staying in Century Park

Neighbourhood Profile
Century Park
Shanghai residents see Pudong’s suburbs as the place that grown-ups retreat to when they’re ready to settle down and stop living in the cramped confines of a refurbished lanehouse. The areas around Century Park are some of the most desirable as they are in close proximity to the Metro Lines, granting easy access to the heart of Puxi. The park itself is a huge draw, it’s one of Shanghai’s biggest and there are sports fields tucked into one of its corners, but five-star hotels, museums and great malls make life in the Century Park area easy for the homesick foreigner. And if living in a Western bubble in China isn’t your thing, there is plenty of local flavor to be had in between the major development. Some of Lujiazui’s futurism can also be seen in buildings and sculptures throughout the neighborhood as well.
