You cannot beat the weekly feria in Grecia. So many vendors it was almost overwhelming the first time. Once you go a lot and use the same vendors its almost like seeing close friends and family every week. They are open Friday afternoon and evening and Saturday mornings. Most of the gringos are there Friday between 1 and 3 and then in the evening it s more locals. It is amazing at night, they have fairy lights and everyone knows everyone so its loud and vibrant. I love the table with the green mango. I get it with salt and limon, so very good. So if you are looking to hangout and chat with other gringos or just wander and mingle among the locals, this is a great way to spend an interesting couple hours on the weekends. There are 2 entrances and you pay around 500 colones to park (approx $1)

Where do you start? First, its huge, the selection of fresh fruits and vegetables unmatched in any grocery store, and the prices and quality make you want to take everything there home. The best bagels I've found in Costa Rica can be found here in the feria (but you'd better get here on Friday afternoon, because there are none to be had by Saturday morning). And everything is beyond fresh. The only problem is that I always buy more than I can possibly eat. Oh well - my compost pile benefits, which does also benefit me in the long run.

Best prices-great variety of fruits, vegetables, meats. Even have some cheese and wine. Easier to park off street. Bring a bag-or rent a cart.

It is used by those doing their local food shopping. You can get low cost meals at various small cafes inside. The are stalls selling flowers, clothing and leather goods besides vegetables, meat, fish, fruits and baked goods. It is a nice place to go on Fridays and Saturdays.

We come here most Fridays. It is open around 11 a.m. and closes about 9 p.m. also open on Saturdays but by 10 a.m. most of the good produce and home baked bread is gone. Therefore, Friday is the best day. There are several open air "sodas" (i.e. small restaurants) in the center of several long open air spokes filled with vendor/farmers selling all fresh produce. There are bakeries, leather and clothes booths and oh the fresh exotic flowers are amazing.

With total honesty, I can tell you that one of the most appealing reasons that I wanted to spend time in Grecia to see if it would be a city I would love to retire to was what I had read about the farmers market (Feria Del Agricultor). My jaw dropped when my friend Ryan took me there. Holy mother of jupiter...... take a look and see for yourself. I would estimate over 400 farmers had goods from organic fruits, vegetables, herbs, fish, meats, etc. From what I calculated, one could eat a very fresh, healthy, and delicious weekly diet for approx. $20 USD and that would be with Watermelon, Pineapple, Mango, Papaya, Cantaloupe, Lemon, Lime, Carrot, Apple, Celery, Banana, strawberries, eggsm fish, shrimp and chicken and fresh bread.... plus more probably...

I love shopping and soaking up local color. If you like natural food, you have to stop at the Feria Del Agricultor. It is every Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. Located right across from the Maxi Pali. OMG - Dios Mios what a blast. Practice your Spanish. Talk to the locals and buy the most amazing fruit and vegetables at reasonable prices.

This large covered marketplace in downtown Grecia is only a few blocks from the main square, and well worth the time to visit. The market is open to the air and consists of dozens of small shops concentrated under one roof. There are breads and bakers, meats, poultry, fish, vegetables, and fruits. And, such wonderful produce!

You can also find prepared foods and can dine here. It's a slice of life! I highly recommend. Enjoy!
