    Beautiful hike!
Beautiful trail with varied terrain and amazing views of Arenal. Some relatively steep stretches but they didn't last long. We hiked it on our own and may have missed some things without a guide but enjoyed the fact that the trails were not crowded and we mostly felt like we had the forest to ourselves.

Great hiking, mostly in deep forest.
Our focus was on the beautiful trails, rather than the views, although the views were excellent. (See photo.) We didn’t explore the lava beds (having seen many of those elsewhere) but the number of shady trails, lacking in crowds, was a welcome relief from some of the other places we visited on this trip. We saw only 3 or 4 groups with guides, but mostly saw the occasional people who just like to exercise by hiking in a beautiful place with 8 different trails. If you want to pack a lunch, there are picnic tables near the intersection of Trails 8, 6, and Parqueo 2.

    Great Value
Went first thing in the morning so beat the crowds and the heat. Fantastic hike through natural rainforest. Great volcano views. Did the longest route #3. Totally worth it. Some steep stairs throughout so beware for those who are a little less mobile. Great value for the $US10 entry fee.

The best hike to view Arenal volcano
This is the hike to do if you want to experience Arenal volcano. El Silencio was not crowded and also the cheapest one ($10 entrance fee) compared to the other parks. The lady at the counter recommended and showed us the route to take (route 3). The trails were clear but the trail signs were not, especially the way to the first viewpoint (tip: take the trail on the right). We were lucky the day we did the hike the weather was great. The views of Arenal from the viewpoints were fantastic. The hike was generally moderate in difficulty but it was challenging on the 1968 Lava Trail. However, it was worth the effort.

We felt that of all the parks we visited this one was our favourite. Hardly anyone else there. Views were amazing. The trails could be a bit challenging but worth it.

This was by far our favourite activity in La Fortuna. The weather was perfect and the trails are in great condition. We spent 2.75 hours there but could have stayed 4-5 hours.

The price of $10 per person was very reasonable because the owners seem to be investing $$$ to make the trails safe for everyone, including new guard rails with plastic coated cabling that are easy to hold on to.

There is wifi at the reception office so you can summon your Uber driver when you are done hiking.

We saw a beautiful anteater on the trail, and a lot of cows. We saw no other American tourists on this trail, because it was Super Bowl Sunday (2-11-2024)

Amazing find! We loved the self-guided tour up to the volcano lookout and lava field. Eerie but stunning. Also- this was so private. There were others there but we felt alone when hiking, only seeing people here and there- most notably near the lava field and lookouts- which you can park in the upper lot and take a shortcut to. TIP: If you are going during warm weather bring lots of water and sun protection. Some of the trails are shaded and some are completely exposed. It can get pretty hot walking up hill on the lava trail and there is no shade. You will bake so come prepared!

Nice, long paths, fewer people, spectacular views and cheaper compared to any other park in La Fortuna! If you do not have a car, make sure to take a Uber, as the taxi will charge you around 25 Dollars from town to there.

While not as famous as the other hikes, this trail looks to give you the best views of Arenal Volcano (I have not been to the other parks) and the entry fee of ten dollars is much cheaper than the others.

Sometimes the signs can appear bit confusing, but other than that everything is great.

There are multiple trails leading up to viewpoint ranging from very easy via a dirt road to moderate via jungles.

Finally, it was also not crowded at all, which is something I really appreciate as I was told that some other places can be very full of people.

Not sure how anyone gave this less than a 5 star experience. We saw a lot of wildlife, while really just expecting a mild hike with great views. Upon entering their was a sloth that a child could grab. We also saw many howler monkeys, an anteater, etc.
