This lake overlooking Arenal volcano provides with a very pleasant and picturesque boat ride that if you are lucky and the weather is with you can lead to to have a great view of the Volcano from the lake. Some nice bird life as well....More

This is a beautiful artificial lake, teeming with wildlife. The views of the volcano are stunning. It is well worth a visit.

Great drive around the north side of the lake and equally the south side to El Castillo and beyond 4wd reqd in rainy season due to river fords. Fantastic views of Mount Arenal and El Castillo Fusion restaurant well worth a visit.

You certainly get intimidated by the greatness of the volcano when viewing from the lake itself. We took a 1 hr tour through the lake @ $70 for the whole group of 10 people which was incredible

We drove around Lake Arenal and it was breathtaking! A few small spots to eat with great view of some birds and other wildlife.

Beautiful spot in la Fortuna when you can take a bote trip that will take you all the way to the foot of the volcano while the guide explains a bit of the History of the place, you can algo do fishing and water sky

Lake Arenal is a huge man made lake that houses a major dam. It was told to us that the dam provides 60% of the electric needs of the whole country of Costa Rica! Impressive!

I know they have kayak for sure but can't remember if the had paddle boards.

I'm not sure as where we entered the Lake was the boat pickup and drop off. If you contact My Costa Rica they could answer your question. Enjoy your journey.

Rule of thumb with the weather there is: Jan-April - dry. May - July - could rain every day for short period of time. We did some trekking around volcano therefore it could be hot and humid in the summer. Then Aug - Dec - it... More
