At Arenal Natura Ecological Park you will experience the natural world in a whole new way, where beautiful frogs, birds, reptiles, and their natural habitats will have the starring role. Arenal Natura is a private Biological Station, where we are concerned at the conservation of habitats, as well as reserach and reproduction of amphibians and reptiles, many of these listed as endangered species by CITES. We are located in a section of the tropical rainforest, at the base of the Arenal Volcano, home to a large quantity of species which, with the help of our guides, will give you a new way to view and enjoy these impressive, complex worlds.

Butterflies, frogs, snakes, caimans and more. We did a self guided tour with eight people and really enjoyed the variety of butterflies in a huge walk-in enclosure. They were downright friendly and didn't hesitate to ride about on hats, shirts and fingers. The caged amphibians were sometimes harder to spot in their enclosures but we were sure to see plenty.... Our family enjoys seeing wildlife - this was more reptilian wildlife - lots of snakes, frogs, crocodiles. Good tour guide, but you can walk unguided at your own pace as well which is nice. The butterfly garden was very big and well maintained with many more species than I've ever seen elsewhere.

This was our second visit to Arenal (went there in 2012) and this time rather than going to the main trail, we drove past it and went to the far less crowded second entrance. The trail goes through beautiful forest and leads you to a peninsula of Lake Arenal. There's an overlook that you can climb up for beautiful views.... More

Our second portion (after the beach) of our spring break in Costa Rica was in the Arenal resort area. The first day we arrived we had booked (from the US) a night tour at Arenal Natura Ecological Park. Our resort was "Nayara" and it is exactly in the same area as the hotel (you can walk or take a 1... More

Our first time to Costa Rica. It was for my sons 21st birthday. The location was fantastic, the restaurants were delicious, and the commute was easy. I am glad we made the decision to come to this beautiful location.

My husband, two sons (9 and 11), and I went to Arenal Natura Ecological Park a couple weeks ago. We chose the earliest Natura Premium tour and we were the only ones there so it was a private tour with Miguel. Miguel is very knowledgeable about the animals and the area - we learned a lot from him. As noted... More

We LOVED the night tour! Our host, Miguel, is an expert at locating animals and boy, did we see a lot. Including a ferdelans snake! His family served us a nice treat of homemade tea and empanadas after our tour.

Great nocturnal animal tour, led by Emanuel. His knowledge and enthusiasm were perfect and contagious with our kids! We were on a hunt to discover animals, finding snakes, spiders, birds, a sloth, and even a glass frog during the two hour tour. Seeing the resident crocodiles and famed red eyed tree frogs were highlights.
