About
At Natura Eco Park you will experience the natural world in a whole new way, where beautiful frogs, birds, reptiles, and their natural habitats will have the starring role. Natura is a private Biological Station, where we are concerned at the conservation of habitats, as well as reserach and reproduction of amphibians and reptiles, many of these listed as endangered species by CITES. We are located in a section of the tropical rainforest, at the base of the Arenal Volcano, home to a large quantity of species which, with the help of our guides, will give you a new way to view and enjoy these impressive, complex worlds.

In Costa Rica, it's exciting to see animals in their natural habitats. At your local zoo, it's fun to see animals in contained habitats.
This place is . . . a zoo. The animal enclosures are pedestrian, but at least the climate is an exact match.
Our guide was a teenager with the enthusiasm of an ASMR content-creator. But it was quite nice how he opened the frog cages and pointed out all of them for us. We also dug how he threw pebbles at a crocodile to get it to react, and seemed perfectly happy to prod and pick up various insects.
We didn't see any animal that wasn't contained, but I'm sure others have had the opportunity. And I'll bet the night tour is nice.
So yeah, we went to a basic zoo. That's fine, but maybe not for $50+ a ticket.

We did the night tour with Brandon as many of the animals are nocturnal. It was amazing and Brandon helped my 17 year get some unbelievable photos that his fiends tagged as National Geographic. I think what made the tour even better was Brandon's passion as a guide. He LOVES his "office"! It was pitch black and he would say look over here and there was a viper hanging on a big leaf and the same color as the leaf. Great tour.

Highly recommend! We stayed at Arenal Manoa and it was a short walk from there. Our guide Meyling is a natural at locating the hidden frogs and taught us so much about all the animals there. Don’t miss the crocodiles!

I visited this because it was next to my hotel - the person at the ticket desk was very helpful and explained the layout of the reserve. However the signposting in some parts was poor - on a couple of occasions I followed the arrows and ended up at dead ends. There was also very little information about any of the animals in the enclosures, and the whole place had a slightly shabby and run down feel to it - I did not therefore feel that the high entry price was justified.
Maybe it would have been better with a guide, but that would have been even more expensive. The guided walks around the volcano national park or hanging bridges, or the sloth tour operated by Callidryas tours are all much more enjoyable and better value for money in my opinion.

I am glad we came at night since I feel like this place is still under construction and would not have shown well in daylight. I selected this place since we could walk to it from Nayara hotel. We had a very knowledgeable guide saw lots of different frogs, lizards, a few birds and even an armadillo. However the construction noise from the house next door really interfered with hearing the sounds of nature at night. Maybe once the park is done with all their construction and exhibits it will be a better experience.

Really enjoyed this. It cost $29 each but we had two hours getting close to turtles, frogs, toads and snakes. The staff were extremely knowledgable and made the tour very interesting. It's not very big but we did enjoy the trip.

The hotel recommend this as something to do when we had a couple of hours to spare one afternoon. We had previously done several nature walks in the real wild and enjoyed the outdoor experience. It was therefore a bit of a surprise for us that this place was like and small zoo in the world. You are taken around with a tour guide who does an excellent job of finding the animals and telling you about them. The frogs seemed to go on for ever and we could have stopped after a while. There is nothing wrong with this place but with all the real jungle and wildlife there why visit a zoo.

Hello dear visitor,
Thank you so much for your visited and for left us a comment, we are a ecological park and one our main goals is the animal rescue center and the environmental education, we have mainly amphibians and reptiles, animals that are so hard to find in the wild, that is why we offer the opportunity to the people, come to see and learn a lot about this kind of animals. in case, visitors want to see more in the wild, can choose the night walk, when the frogs are awake.
Regards!

Way way way too expensive, seriously, 56$/person to see few common frogs, 2 snakes, the longer one about 8 inches, a 3 feet caiman and 2 small crocs like in a zoo.. Everything tours are quite expensive in Costa Rica, but this on is more like a super fraud. I do not recommend at all, super waste of cash.

Taking a guide is worth is as they point out so much I would have never seen! Monkeys, toucans and so much more. Hanzel at Rain Forest Explorers is the best.

This is a must do - the guide was amazing, we saw the red eye tree frog, eye lash viper, glass frog, more frogs and so many fascinating insects. The paths were easy to walk and felt safe and well led. An fabulous trip and excellent value for money.

I'd recommend the animal sanctuary, we did day and learnt and saw do much. Yes within a " zoo" situation but we saw animals and frogs that we would not otherwise had seen

Hello Jan22431,
Unfortunately we are an Ecological Park specialized in amphibians and reptiles from Costa Rica where we offered guided tours which take about 1:30 minutes the Day Tours and 2 hours the night hike.
Best regards!
