The natural hot springs are awesome!! You pay $4 to park (and they watch your car during the day anyways to prevent theft). You walk under the bridge and find a spot, there were a lot of ppl, but there is enough space that you...More

I’d put this under “you get what you pay for”. The river is nice and definitely warm with some pools to sit in. However you need to walk through a graffiti filled tunnel strewn the bottles, dirty diapers, and other garbage about. This was some...More

we followed Trip Advisors directions and it was just as described. It was free! A river with pools of hot water and cool springs as well. Sooo beautiful! Iguanas romped around as we soaked!

We were going to go to Ecotermales ($40/each without a meal) but as we didn't have a ton of free time it seemed like too much money for an hour visit. I am SO GLAD my husband convinced me to try the free hot springs....More

Would definitely recommend visiting the free hot springs! We were happy to pay a local $5 for help parking and watching our vehicle. The entrance is by the yellow gate near tabacon resort, not hard to find. The springs are warm and relaxing but I...More

The free hot springs are very basic: there is no space to change clothes or store your bag. You need to pay attention on your belongings. It is right next to the road and has two parts: upstream and downstream. The upstream part is more...More

Hot river is magical and warm. Negatives: sand goes everywhere. Positives: it feels good Tip: bring candles and stay past sunset. 5 stars. Will come back.

To me, this was one of the more magical places we went. It amazed me that I was soaking in a hot river while sitting among the jungle trees. So much better than the commercial hot springs that I have been to before. We just...More

We found this by reading the forums. It is a great alternative to the fancy hot springs in the area. It's free, it's busy and very comfortable.I would go back again.

There is a lot to do in this area. There are the Hanging Bridges, Coffee and chocolate tours, hiking in Arenal National Park, any thermal spas, horseback riding, boating on Lake Arenal, the Cloud Forest. So much!
