There is a lot to see in the park, including the drive up the mountainside. We bought fresh fruit and passed by coffee fields. The trail is very gently with rolling up and down. Lookout destination is a must over the smokey blow hole. The...More

We were really excited to see Poas Volcano, but we knew it was closed due to the eruption at the beginning of April. We received some misinformation that you could still see the volcano from the highway, but this was totally untrue. Keep checking with...More

This was for sure an unforgettable experience, from the drive through the countryside to get here, to site itself. It's a great spot to admire nature and fully relax. I loved it!

Costa Rica is blessed with volcanos and Poas volcano is great for a day trip. There is a scenic walk from the info centre before you reach the amazing viewing platform. There are also a few walking trails.

Really bummed. Park is closed indefinitely due to eruptions..... :( it started erupting on April 17th with a large eruption that has destroyed plants and parks of the park. Was told all animals have fled too.

It is important to get there early. Even on the perfectly clear day we had, within a couple hours the clouds were starting to come up the mountain and pour into the crater. It is stunning though, and still smoking! You only need about 3...More

I was excited to see a volcano, and thought it would be cool. It blew my mind! It was so surreal looking into a volcano and be above the clouds! We also walked another trail through the micro cloudforest and saw the extinct volcano that's...More

I believe here is still minor activity / eruptions in June and July 2017 and I think the volcano is closed to visitors. Please check with local websites.
