Although disappointed it was too foggy that day to see the crater on the day I went, this place is still fantastic. The fog right up to the railing made it look like the end of earth here. Kind of cool. There are long trails through the cloud forest that are an amazing experience with great photo opportunities if you've... More

This was one of the stops on my trip through Costa Rica with Caravan Tours. We were told that the weather often does not allow you to see the volcano. We had a picture perfect day. It is a short walk to the lookout point above the volcano which provided a great vantage point for taking pictures. It is definitely... More

You should aim to arrive there early in the morning as we were told that weather gets worse throughout the day. It takes little time and an easy paved hike to get to the crater and since this is one of the few volcanoes in CR where you can get to the top so easily it is a great opportunity... More

Poas is a great day trip from the San Jose area. You can get there by public transportation too. It's best to go in the morning. The entrance is almost at the top of the crater so you can get really close to it. It would be nice if there were more hiking trails, but it's good for people who... More

This attraction could be either zero or five stars, depending on the weather at the time of your visit. Twice we drove to the gate of the park and turned around because it was too cloudy, but the next day we woke up to sunny skies and went for it. Good thing we did, because the panorama of the steaming... More

We went to Poas volcano with a private guide, the problem was that the day wasn't really sunny.. We didn't see a lot of the volcano, because it was covered with clouds and steam from the volcano ... But the area was nice, we saw the beautiful blue lagoon and took very nice pictures there, then we took the loop... More

Being from new york I can only describe the volcano and overall park as PRICELESS! the walk up is a good little work out so wear comfortable clothing and especially shoes and for some wear a light sweater or jacket because it is type chilly and the wind makes it feel more cold. As for the volcano itself get there... More

Volcan Poas is a such a lovely day trip from the San Jose Airport area. The drive up this beautiful mountain is the most treacherous part of the trip. The hike on the main paved road is very easy with not much incline to get to the top where the crater waits. Once at the top there is a lot... More

Please, be not cancell the visit Poas Volcano even if it rains - rain sometimes gives an opportunity so "clare the mist" - we were so happy, that we hadn't posponed our trip, because suddenly rain stopped and we had a perfect opportunity to see Poas Crater. Unbelievable impression !
