You do not go to Costa Rica but then this one together with the cathedral in Cartago are a must. Really nice inside all in wood. The oldest church in the country.

This church is open to the public, and there is, of course, no charge. Given that the church is, apparently, no longer in use, it is kept in outstanding condition. Very nice grounds, too.

An opportunity to view a 18th century church's architecture and the religious interests of life in this village. The museum has a number of artifacts that make this a unique experience. My favorite moment was to see a sleeping dog at the foot of the altar. He remained there until we started to leave and then followed us, went in front of us, and led us to a good restaurant!

Very beautiful church. The only problem was it closed over noon, and our tour guide was not aware of that so we had to wait. But the wait was worth it.

Not much info available in English that we could find. Would have loved to have more history available at our fingertips while we were there. We did love the artwork and sheer magnitude of a building built in the 18th century. Kids loved the courtyard but did find dog poop - yuck!
