Our large school group of 23 teens and 7 adults enjoyed our beautiful hike. The volcano was breathtaking and definitely a must see. The museum on the way up was informative and had a few local vendors, which provided fresh fruit and items to purchase....More

Loved this tour. It was one of the best during our 9 day trip to Costa Rica. The area was beautiful and the volcanic activity was breath taking.

We didn't have loads of time but we did get to hike to four waterfalls (free) and do the hot springs/mud baths ($20). It was STUPID GORGEOUS out there.

The main hike takes about 2 hours and it is a loop that goes around the mud pots and little volcano. It is an easy hike - mostly flat and paved. Very interesting - we saw a lot of animals too - snakes, agouti, birds...More

This was a perfect fit, exactly what we were looking for. We got to the main building and were greeted in English by a very knowledgeable and very friendly Ranger. He explained the trail options, told us all about the park and answered our extensive...More

We visited this park in 2004 and returned in June 2017. The trail has been improved significantly (apparently, 3 years ago, the government invested the resources to make a significant portion of the trail more accessible to all Costa Ricans and visitors). We paid a...More

We arrived at Las Pailas Ranger Station at exactly 8 am and were the second people on the hike. We started about 8:20 am. They give you a number and you check back with them as you leave so they make sure everyone makes it...More

I took the chance of hiking during rainy season in Rincon de la Vieja National Park on the Las Pailas trails. Luckily it didn't rain, but it was certainly humid and i heard grumblings of thunder in the distance. The waterfall was beautiful and the...More

The easy hike here is a 2 hour circular walk through cool jungle and blisteringly hot open areas. There are about 7 stops along the way where you will see hot springs and bubbling mud pots. The stops are pretty underwhelming if you've ever been...More

Hi, in the part of the park where I have been, there are no zip lines...not sure if there are in other areas. You could visit the park alone, if you prefer.
