The most beautiful beach we did during our trip. Intense black sand, nobody to disturb you, just the sound of the waves.

We stayed at Hotel El Velero which is steps away from the beach. We liked the darkened sand and the gentle waves made swimming nice. Lots of trees, water temperature was perfect and a few vendors selling trinkets but never pushy. Enjoyed a massage on...More

So many reviews below are for the Jaco Playa Hermosa, which indeed is tons too rough. This beach is wonderfully calm and I spent hours after hours in the water here, with nary a current (well, the current is there, but its not strong-enough to...More

The people are so welcoming and helpful. The view of the bay, the Pacific Ocean, the surrounding countryside was breathtaking. Sunsets were gorgeous! The howler monkeys were fun to see and observe from a distance. Those baby's are sure cute. Many beautiful local birds were...More

My husband wanted to visit this beach. We have four kids. When we got there, all the signs said the waves were too dangerous for swimming. You see tunnel waves here; they are huge. I imagine this beach is good for surfing or observing only....More

Staying at Resort at Andez Papagallo and really liked the area at Playa Hermosa more. The beach was pleasant and sandy and there was some wave movement.... other parts it was lake like.

I don't surf, but it was fun to watch those that do, and the scenery at sunset is amazing! Not a good beach for swimming, but great for watching surfers and sunrises/sunsets!

I found the area to be beautiful and relaxing. Plenty to do, nice restaurants and bars on the beach, and friendly locals!

The colour of the sand and the water was darker than I had experienced at other beaches in my travels. I am used to a little more clarity when I swim. I walked the length of it and even went in to town.

Lovely beach and not busy at all. Great for a relaxing day. Bring your own chair to sit on, as there are not a lot of chairs out.

We used the lounge chairs on the beach from some of the restaurants. As long as you order food and/ or drinks, they are free of charge. We used 6 of them for an entire day and it was not a problem.
