Great, relaxing beach

The beach is beautiful, the water is warm, and it's a great spot for relaxing. There's a small town with some cute shops and good restaurants.

We were on the search for the "perfect" beach in CR (Costa Rica really has horrible beaches-- worse than the Jersey shore in all honesty) and spent an hour or two on Samara Beach. It is decent and it is wide but was pretty sad when the guy we paid to watch our vehicle told me to make sure we... More

Samara is a lively yet very relaxed and friendly beach down. It has something to offer for all sorts of travelers. It's easy to see why some visitors don't leave, and many of the businesses seem to be run by expats. The beach is very nice and the ocean is completely safe there. There are small waves for beginner surfers... More

Samara Beach is a beautiful quiet beach with scenic views. Be aware that the beach is very rocky and you will need water shoes to go in the water.

Love how the town was situated and how you could rent chairs get food and drink right on the beach. I suggest walking around town to look at the shops. The beach is great for families and the swimming is great and safe.

never crowded, so very beautiful, and so much to do, from horseback riding to boating to swimming to just walking, with even an art gallery

Playa Samara is a nice beachfront the runs along the town. There are plenty of bars and restaurants to enjoy while you're there. For a more relaxed vibe, try Playa Carrillo. It's just up 160.

The ocean water was bathtub warm and once you got past the breakers, you could actually swim. Very nice beach. Town is overrun with tourists however.

First time here....hopefully not the last. Great laid back community. Lots to do. Plus opportunities to not do anything. Not cheap but reasonable. It's hot (March) but not unbearable. Photo is view from Lo Que Hay bar/restaurant. Great place!

Wild horses make daily appearances on Samara Beach making for beautiful views and breathtaking experiences. I felt very safe and secure walking on the beach. The tides, sunsets and scenery take your breath away!
