We reserved our 2.5 hr ride for 8:30 a.m. to avoid the heat of the day and were glad we rode in the morning. The horses we were assigned were well matched for our size and weight. I was pleased to be able to ride Playboy, who was a gaited horse and very smooth. Beautiful gallop on the Buena Vista Beach was optional for those who were comfortable with galloping. My husband and I being horse owners enjoyed this option. The ride was lovely and varied with viewing of animals and birds and Melissa, our guide was informative and attentive to our needs. It was important to us that the horses were well fed and cared for. They were watered and given a fresh water hose down when we returned and sheltered in a shaded area out of the hot sun. All the horses looked well and contented. A must for horse lovers. Thank you Melissa for a great horse experience.

Just a beautiful spot !! Magical at sunset! We took a trail ride and ended up on this beach at sunset. Made for the best trail ride! I also hear it is a good beach for catching a few waves!

A long, dark sand beach. We spent the morning walking along the shore, hunting for shells. At low tide you can walk north to Playa Barrigona. Just make sure you come back before the tide rises, or it will be a long walk back along the road!

This is a gorgeous beach and walking distance from Samara. It is quite a ways but the road there is mostly flat. We've not walked there but think it might take 30 to 45 minutes depending on how fast a walker you are. If you don't have a car rent a bike or a golf cart. We do not cross through the river to go over to the beach. The surf can be rougher here and no lifeguards. You can get more info at the info center at lo que hay on the beach.

There are several ways to get to Buena Vista, we did all three, enter from the north, from the road that goes past the Iguana Verde or walk at low tide from Samara (not for the faint of heart)
The beach is brownish sand, the attraction are the fishermen at the south end of the beach, the walk thought the crocodile river:)
and the Turtle preserve in the middle. When we went in late Feb 2018 it appeared the preserve was unmanned. We found about a dozen dead baby turtles that had hatched the night before , right in front of the preserve.. You could see where server turtles had come on the beach the night before to lay eggs. Figure at least a half hour to walk the length of the beach.

Walked here from Samara. It's a long, hot walk. Bicycles would be better. The beach was empty except for 4 surfers in the distance. If you enter East end, you're limited to that end unless you cross the river. I wouldn't recommend that. You could drive to West end for more access. There really is nothing there except one hostel at far West end. Nonetheless, if you're looking to explore, it's beautiful, rugged and empty.

A very nice beach. It does take a bit of a hike to get there but it is worth doing. We saw dozens of monkeys, colourful birds and lots of flowers along the way.

Quiet and close to Samara, found many nice agates. Not really a beach for swimming but pretty and no crowd.

Playa Buena Vista was beautiful and secluded. The waters are rougher than those of Playa Carrillo or Samara but the beach is isolated and peaceful.

Hi ,
I’m taking my road bike over for a week , anyone know any good routes 30miles + .
Cheers

From my experience, a road bike is not a good idea. The roads are not paved other than main road and there are no shoulders and often big drop offs into a ditch instead. They are very rutted and lots of loose stones and sometime gravel. We took beach bikes to playa barrigona which was a great ride, but you are on some gravel, some dirt roads covered with molasses(to keep the dust down) and very deeply rutted path like road for shortcut to Playa barrigona. Very hard to find mountain bike to rent. We rented the bikes for $7 US for half a day. They were comfy and had baskets and lock. Rented on the main street going up from the beach. The mountain bikes were only at one place and were $20 each for the day. Ride to Barrigona took about 35 -40 min if you know where you are going. 50 min if you have to ask directions frequently. Cheers! Hope someone else know good routes for you.
