the best for sunsets

The beach is situated in the place where you can admire with a great pleasure sunsets and grab a bear from the nearby pubs. Good to spend some leisure time during the day.

Been here on 2 different occasions and fall deeper in love each time. You have to scout the beach for a good place to unpack and relax (preferably for me away from the town center). I rented a bike and explored deeper into other beaches and area which was really nice as well. A nature lovers paradise! It was cool... More

It really all depends on where you are accessing the beach. From the heart of town near all the shops and restaurants I'd say they were just ok. Better surf there but not as clean. If you are accessing the beach further south from some of the hotels these beaches are beautiful.....nearly private at this time of year. Very clean.... More

The beach was not crowded even though it was a weekend. It was clean as always and very accessible. Several bars and restaurants to choose from.

What a great beach! Picture warm water, clean sand and happy people. It's nice for swimming, or picnics. Also a great place to watch the sunset.

Beautiful beach. Best surfing in the world. Restaurants have best food . Recommend, Hot Rocks, Lazy Lobster, and my most favorite, Outback Jacks! Great ribs and the best calamari in the world. Great relaxing atmosphere!

This beach is in town close to business, food, and drink. Its a good place to hang out, but there are better beaches both to the north and south.

What's not to love about this town! Rented a 2 bedroom bungalow (see review on Home away/vbro) we were right in town close to everything we needed. We rented bikes this was all the transportation we needed in town there was a wonderful bakery on the main road for coffee and smoothies. The food was carribean aspired. There are vendors... More

Beach where locals and turists hang out together. Not really big. There is a bar on a side, it seems like popped out of jamaica, blasting dance-hall and reagge almost all day. Amazing.

Towards the North there is playa negra that eventually ends at the Cahuita national park border. This beach with black and brown sand is some 5 km long and pleasantly calm, especially the last stretch after the road end towards the laguna. Walking Eastward from the center of Puerto Viejo there is another beach that has been 'developed'. Here there... More
