Such a hidden gem. Make sure you bring some food because they don't sell food at the national park. They have water, showers, and plenty of shade trees.

Went to the park in April, not a lot of wild life due to the heat! But this is a gorgeous swimmable beach with plenty of wild life lurking in the trees including lots of tourist

What a difference a couple years makes! Several years ago the beaches were quiet in the early morning and we never had a problem finding some space to ourselves - now the beach is packed from sun up to sunset and vendors are constantly trying to sell to you. The only escape you have is the ocean...which isn't necessarily a... More

It was a hike to get to this beautiful beach. To enter the park it costs adults $16. You can not leave and come back. Bring water and a sandwich. Not chips or junk food area allowed. Not chairs, umbrellas, balls, etc allowed. Take turns with neighbors watching bags with any food. Active racoons come up and try to steal... More

Reserve your chairs with Mary - she is great! You can order food and drinks and pay by credit card for everything at the end of the day. The tide moves in A LOT so if you are close to the water she will move you back to the tree area. We walked from the beach 5 minutes for lunch... More

The hike to the beach is fairly long. You need to bring everything in with you. When you reach the beach the water is alluring. The current is not strong. The water is clear and warm. Watch out for the white face monkeys and other animals on the beach. They will search your belongings for food.

We visited Playa Manuel Antonio during the first week of April. It was part of a day-long excursion to Manuel Antonio National Park. The weather was unseasonably hot that week, so cooling off at the beach was high on our to-do list. Playa Manuel Antonio is beautiful. White sand, beautifully clear blue water and plenty of shade from the trees... More

The water is warm. Surf is rough enough to be fun, but calm enough for a swim. There are people who sell coconuts for two dollars and ice cream for the same fare. A great tropical beach.

Manuel Antonio obviously has beautiful beaches and interesting wildlife. I wish I had known how expensive it is; the colones (local currency) is much lower than the dollar but they just bump everything up. Average cost of a dinner of seafood is about 16-24 US. Also MA is pretty isolated. I would not recommend spending your entire vacation there- go... More

The beach charges $16 to get in so but tickets ahead of time. We were told they only let a certain amount in each day but I found it to be extremely busy but it was vacation time for Costa Ricans so I assume that is why the crowds. I visited the beach in 1978 and it was a quiet... More
