Walk in the rain

We enjoyed our hike in the rain and wind. The grounds were very muddy but that is as to be expected given the weather over the past few days. We are in our mid fifties and walked... read more

Went there with a small group and a guide. First we went to see the hummingbirds which were amazing to watch. After that we trekked through the rainforest and the guide gave us information on the flora and the trees whilst watching for any wildlife. We saw one small snake and the rest were birds and there were only a... More

We enjoyed our hike in the rain and wind. The grounds were very muddy but that is as to be expected given the weather over the past few days. We are in our mid fifties and walked all the open trails. The view from "The Window" was non existent as were literally standing in the clouds but I am sure... More

It's a long, rough and winding drive up to the cloud forest, but it's worth it if only for the views. Parking can be difficult, but if you have a reservation you will be waved to the front of what can be many hundreds of metres of cars. We had an English speaking guide and honestly we wouldn't have seen... More

Interesting 2 hr hike with one of the park rangers. We learned a lot about the Cloud Forest and saw some wildlife (snake, birds) but I suspect that early morning would be a better choice if you want to find more animal life. Nice hike though. We also enjoyed the Hummingbird Garden after our hike. Dazzling little birds!

The Monteverde cloud forest reserve is a must do as the forrest is gorgeous! However the 20usd per person and the big crowds make me doubt if it is really worth it. Next time I would defenitely check for alternatives. The best hours are from 7am-11am. You will most likely not see a lot of animals during the day on... More

We did a guided tour and learnt so much about the forest. We saw a number of birds as well. The guides took us off in different directions so it meant we weren't in a long trail with loads of other people. And unlike other parks we could leave and re enter which we did to walk to the waterfall.... More

It was a nice experience to hike through the cloud forest but after visiting many other natural reserves and wildlife parks around Costa Rica, this was far too commercialized for our liking (like the whole area of Santa Elena/Monteverde) with a $20 entrance fee and a constant stream of people on the paths that are still open. The people at... More

Had a lovely walk through this cloud forest with a very knowledgeable guide Juan Carlos. Saw many birds but unfortunately the quetzal was elusive on this day

We took a tour guide as suggested by our AirBnB host. His name was Roy Porras Segura and he was well worth the cost of the $150. In 3 hours, Roy was able to find so many wonderful things in the forest that we would have NEVER seen if we went by ourselves. He was a pro at getting us... More

Recently visited the Monteverde Cloud Forest in hopes of seeing some of Costa Rica's animals; didn't see many four legged creatures, but lots of two legged tourists! Nonetheless, we saw a very beautiful forest, after traveling on very, very, rough roads to get there. Great little village of Monteverde is a must to visit with some great restaurants and local...
