Montezuma Falls was amazing and felt immersed in the Costa Rican culture. We also walked through the streets of montezuma and shopped! It was a good excursion to do on your own even. We hired our own driver to take us there!

Not a difficult trek in the dry season. Took less than an hour from the entrance to the first level falls and pool. Safe swimming and quiet when we got there at 10.30 - trail to the second level is on the left as you walk upstream - guide isn't necessary. Quite large groups started to arrive later on the... More

A bit of a hike but well worth it. Would be spectacular in the rainy season. Be sure to bring your swimming gear as you'll want to cool off in the pools below the falls.

First off, we missed the easy stair route. It is before the first (biggest) falls, kind of just around the bend before you get there. Getting that far does require some rock hopping but it is not that bad. The route up by the falls is not that horrible, but it is semi dangerous. We climbed all the way up... More

We went to Montezuma and followed everyone's recommendation to visit the waterfalls. First we have some troubles finding the entrance - going south after the beach, there is a small bridge and parking to the right of the road. You can park there ($2) and take the trail up. Maybe because now it's much in the dry season, the waterfall... More

This waterfall is a half day hike activity. It offers adventure for the whole family or friends or couples. It has multiple levels of expertise. The top is not for the faint of heart- it requires some rock climbing and strength . If you do get there - you will see on most days - people jumping from high level... More

The walk to this place is an adventure in itself. Be prepared to so some serious hiking/walking. Also be sure you can stand walking over rocks or thru the jungle. You will be rewarded with a nice waterfall with a pool big enough to swim and cool down after your hike. Do not expect a lot of water during dry... More

Scramble over rocks and walk the path past monkeys along the riverbed to the waterfall. You can take a break there and swim in the pool of water at the bottom of the falls. Brings beverages and snacks if you plan to stay for a hour or so.
