We use Caribe Shuttle to get from Bocas de Toro in Panama to Manzanillo, Costa Rica, and we're very glad we did! Not only does the service cover the boat trip from Bocas, which is on an island, but they were flexible and creative when we ran into trouble at the border. With coronavirus just starting to spread in Central America, some kind of protesters blocked the road at the border. After a few phone calls, the guide told us we should get our luggage and follow her down a dirt road and through a banana field where we arrived at the pedestrian crossing. After emigration and immigration, another shuttle was waiting for us on the Costa Rican side. The driver told us the the bathroom, there's the supermarket with cold beer, meet at the bus. He really knew what we needed at that point!
The people of Caribe took a difficult situation and just made things work, saving us a lot of stress! Kudos! Thank you so much!

Our cross-border transfer from Liberia airport to San Juan del Sur (SJDS ) with Shuttle Caribe was the best spent (US$100 for two adults). Collected on time by our driver at the airport, we were whisked away to Peñas Blancas—the border town. With Caribe’s drivers and Nicaraguan fixer at the border, we were in great hands. Our affable Nica driver, Rudy, also knew the manager of our Airbnb in SJDS and delivered us right to his office. So, we were handed from one person to the next (including checks by at least eight Tico/Nica officials at the border) and yet barely lifted a finger to negotiate the mess of border traffic that stretched for miles. Yes, you can spend much less money to spend much more time to make this journey. We appreciated the air conditioned comfort in modern vehicles, and our door-to-door trip was completed in less than three hours. All staff were super friendly and made us feel safe and happy in what can be a less pleasant experience. Thanks guys!

We took this shuttle both ways last week. Their website and any hotel/VRBO place will tell you it's a 3 1/2 - 4 hour trip. In translation that means 6 1/2 - 7 hours. It's not the drivers fault it's the roads. The main hwy over the mountains is being made into a 4 lane hwy with completion scheduled 4 years from now. This is a grueling long trip. Had I known you could fly San Jose/Limon for an extra $40 US, I would not have hesitated a bit.

Pick up was as expected, shuttle driver helped load the bags, and drove well. The unexpected extra was mobile wifi, so if you are so inclined, you can blog your way through the entire 5 hour transit. A stop at a local roadside cafe half way through the journey allows refuelling with coffee and typical Costa Rican food.
Price for a 5 hour trip is very reasonable

Excellent service and excellent driver. They accommodated our pickup location and dropped us off right where we were staying. The driver was friendly and helpful and the van was very comfortable.

Unlike other shared shuttle companies this year, the driver introduced himself, showed us the sign about wifi, and informed us of approximate time of rest stop. Driver also was better driver than most shuttle drivers I have had.

The problems I had on the ride were due to the other passengers. 4 talked extremely loudly during much of the 6 hour trip. The female behind me had the volume turned up on her cell phone and refused to turn it off, claimed her partner had their only set of headphones. Then she started eating fried chicken and the smell almost made me sick.
