They're closed for over a week since I've been here. Nothing on the schedule; nothing advertised. The kiosk in front of the building in the plaza is advertising the schedule from 2018 and this is 2019.

I had a guided tour which I enjoyed, it was interesting and the guide presented details about the history of the theatre, the construction and interior. I think it was one of the nicest things I did in my short stay in San Jose.

Well worth the price of the tour. Our guide was so knowledgeable and we learned a lot about Costa Rica just from the history and events of the Teatro. You purchase the tickets from the ticket booth along side the building. Tours on the hour.

Having toured opera houses in Europe with my gf, I did not have the highest expectations for this San Jose touring option. We both agreed this was extremely impressive. Perhaps smaller than some European opera houses, but every bit as intricately appointed. Worth the price...More

Is a 19th century european built spectacular theater. Is both beautiful and well maintained. Very attractive and fascinating to see. It shows how wealthy the upper class was in times past in this country. The leather covered seats are worthwhile sitting in as they tip...More
