The Jade Museum and of precolumbian culture is positioned as an innovative state-of-the-art cultural proposal in the protection and conservation of archaeological heritage in Central America. Located in the center of Costa Rics's capital, the building was especially constructed to house the museum's collection, its architecture evoking a cut jade block. Its five levels exhibit objects crafted by artisans specialized in solving their daily subsistence needs, their spiritual and political world.

Never knew there was so much to know about Jade. Well laid out, nice coffee bar. Doesn't open until 10 am. Great market next door.

The museum was quite interesting. The artist seemed to focus on the physique. It was great seeing the skill of an artist from Costa Rica. Definitely worth the time to visit. I would recommend this museum.

This is one of the few museums in San Jose and the one we chose to visit in our one day there. I definitely think it was the right choice. It's so well done and extremely informative. Jade is just a small part of what you'll see there. It can get a little overwhelming, however, but well worth the visit.

Most pleasant muséum! Moderne and interactive. It is on four floors easily accessible by stairs or elevator. Less than an hour.

The jade museum was much more than what I first thought it was going to be. I have a love for pottery and the Jade museum fulfilled my wildest dreams of pottery and vases.

The entrance fee is high ($15usd) each but we were looking to fill some time. Most impressed with the amazing quality of the pottery from that time period. It feels like you are entering the gift shop, not a storage/display area (5th floor). The jade was interesting, especially the recorders (those small flute like musical instruments). They even had recorder... More

This museum is interesting if you are into statues, pottery and artifacts of the costa rican people and their culture. I found it a little boring because it was not a guided tour and much was not explained with some form of note depicting what it was. The cover charge is $15.00 per person

We toured the Jade Museum and spent 3 leisurely hours and saw the entire museum. We learned a lot about pre-Colombian history and Jade, pottery, and culture.

It is quite interesting to learn about the precious stone and the history about it. I do like the cafeteria inside the museum. It was nice to have a coffee and dessert after the tour.

The museum is underground and designed well in the central square of San Jose. The carvings are interesting and described both in English and Spanish. If you're in the area its worth your while to visit.
