This was my favorite museum of the three we visited in San José. I learned a lot about the history and development of Costa Rica, and the museum setting itself is very pleasant with good views and nice gardens. A bonus is that there is...More

We wanted to learn more about this beautiful country beyond rainforests and animals, and this was an excellent place to do that. There are different sections showing histories of the pre-columbian era, the 1800s, the building itself, and the butterfly exhibit. This museum was located...More

The museum was great to visit especially for first timers coming from the United States. It was my seven-year-old and myself. It was very informative and very interesting… Explain a lot of coaster Rican history. I would go again. The butterfly area was our favorite.

We enjoyed the national museum. The historic citadel it is held in provides a great location for the museum, and the exhibits are interesting. It seemed a little small and I can't explain why, but I left feeling a little underwhelmed.

We stopped in the coffee shop during an afternoon rain on June 20, 2017. Each of my family ordered a beverage. The Mocha Frappe is AMAZING! We'll be returning there before the end of our trip just for one more.

An absolute gorgeous building. The details are amazing. We had a good guide, however, if I could make a recommendation, it would be that more information on the history of this beautiful building, be provided during the tour.

As others have said, many of the exhibits have English information as well as Spanish. I don't speak Spanish either but I enjoyed my visit.
