I passed by this huge, beautiful park on my way to the Atlantic Train Station. Located near the National Museum and a small museum for modern arts, it is easy to locate this park. The huge trees and beautiful plants provide shades to those resting at the benches.

Stop by and enjoy its beauty if you’re in the area.

On a city tour you learn the importance of this park to the people. It was a airport then the man who brought the airport turned it into a park for the poor. Prior to this only the rich had parks. Now it's enjoyed by all. Great place for a walk or ran plus meet the locals

Another of the many parks in downtown San Jose, this having the huge statue in the center representing the five nations of the Central American Federation in the 1800s. The park is well maintained, litter free and has huge trees. Just another example of city parks in the downtown area.

It's well located, close to the train station, the Legislative Assembly, and the National Library. There are a number of very interesting statues relating key moments in Costa Rican history.
While there still is a pretty high chance of being approached by a homeless person asking for money, your are much more likely to be left alone here than at any other park in San José.

Very enjoyable to sit on a bench and read in the peace and quiet in the middle of the park. Many trees have their names and description on a plaque.

Like I said, it is a park with a statue commemorating the resistance and victory of CR and other Central American countries over the American mercenary, William Walker. One guy was selling toothbrushes, and another toothpaste - is there a dental sector near by?

It is not a glamourous park and we have seen more impressive ones but it was worth visiting, because these parks always tell a story about a city (here San Jose). Strolling around at daytime was nice, some art, some history, nice vegetation, some people (it was quiet that morning).

Nice patch of green in the centre of San Jose. Some interesting sculptures and statues along with some big trees. Nice place for a stroll in relative quiet. Very clean and safe with places to sit and rest from the sight-seeing for a few moments!

A great mid-city national park that highlights some of the history of the Costa Rican nation as well as a number of unique statues. The center of the park is dominated by the Monumento Nacional which symbolizes the five Central American countries coming together to thwart the efforts of American William Walker to overthrow countries in the region. In addition there are monuments to national heroes like Jose Marti and Miguel Hildago. The residents are rightfully proud of this park.

A bit disappointed from the parks of San Jose’! Costa Rica is so lush that I was expecting the parks to be rich and lush and full of “jungle” green! Not the case really!
Unfortunately not what I was expecting so obviously a bit disappointed.
