Dirty, run down park with nothing in it. The ponds that show blue on the map are green algae covered unattractive pools.

I live close to Parque la Sabana--and walk my dog there just about every morning.
It is a well maintained urban park, with excellent security. We have not had a problem--for years--there are guards and police on foot, bikes, etc. We like it mucho.

The lakes and water features are all dried up. Many of the art and sculpture has been vandalized and not maintained. The park is pro trolled by security on horseback and arc.

I was staying across the street from the National Stadium and Parque La Sabana - took a walk around the park one morning and it was very pleasant - lots of sports fields and families out to enjoy the park. Nice place to get some fresh air and exercise.

If you want to spend some time outside, make exercise, take your children, spend time with family or friends, you can go to La Sabana. In dry season there's many dust around if it's a windy day, so you better carry your sunglasses.

We walked through the park on a Sunday morning after visiting the art museum. What was interesting to me is that this area used to be where the runways were for the 1940 city airport. Today it is well used by local where you can watch soccer and volleyball games. There are also benches and tables for sitting. Nice place.

A nice slice of greenry in the heart of the big city of San José. Great place for people watching, going for a jog or exercising and to escape the busy streets.

This park is huge. We walked the whole park in about an hour . Beautiful trees, lots of birds and funny squirrels.
It was fun watching Costa Rican kids play baseball st 7:30am. They took it serious and so did their parents. Soccer stadium and mounted police were also very cool.

Parque la Sabana is being redone. 25 years the authorities planted australian trees and the Costa Rican birds didn't seem to like them.
A year ago they began replacing the trees with native tropical trees. . There has been a tremendous volunteer force of students planting trees during the past year and once again it is beginning to look green. The birds are beginning to come back, same with the butterflies and other fauna.
It is full of people doing sports: runnig, soccer, baseball, skating, swimming, etc.

It was pouring the day I went, so my visit was limited to the Museum of Costa Rican Art and looking at the beautiful sculpture garden through the museum’s windows. The art museum was outstanding and the sculpture garden looked like a beautiful place to wander in nicer weather.
