About Vaapiti
google
Native of Tahiti, I want to share my passion for traditional navigation. Vaapiti is the first double-handed pirogue to have obtained all the necessary authorizations to carry out excursions. It took me 4 years of construction, I sailed with it for 2 years in Polynesia. Today, I want to share my knowledge and discover the culture of Polynesian navigators with a unique va'a and respect for the environment.

This is a must book experience in Moorea. The guides were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about the island and sailing. We got to swim with sharks, explore underground tikis, and got plenty of fruit and drinks. They also gave us the opportunity to learn how to sail and steer the canoe. Unlike other tours, we were able to sail in the open water outside of the lagoon, and then sail ourselves back in. This was an extremely unique experience, and unlike anything we have ever done before.

Outstanding Experience. Recommend this sunset. Get the best of afternoon winds for sailing and a beautiful sunset. The ocean sailing was a thrill. You can participate as much or as little as you like. Had plenty of opporunity for lagoon snorkeling. Raphael and his brother JR were experienced sailors and very knowledgeable of the island history. Prepared an artful fruit displayof fruit and enjoyed cold beverages (inc. beer). Raphael and JR are very gracious and alot of fun. The best experience of the trip. Also, they are very good about communicating giving promt replys and anxious to work with you to tailor the trip to your desires.

Outstanding experience. Recommend the sunset sail. We had good winds and sailed in the open ocean. A thrill. Participate as much or little as you like. Served an artful display of fresh fruit and beverages. Had two lagoon snorkeling opportunities. And a sensational sunset to top the day. Raphael & his brother, JR were knowledgeable sailers and on the history of Moorea not to mention very gracious and alot of fun. Most memorable day of our stay.

My wife and I went out with Raphael and his sister for an evening cruise. It was the highlight of our trip to Moorea. He is so passionate about sailing and also the native polynesian culture, it is infectious. He spent 5 years building his "canoe" and it is amazing. We stopped to swim with sharks and manta reys and then he gave a us a sailing lesson and taught us the different rules and techniques. It was an amazing evening out. Don't forget to ask about his girlfriends jewelry, it is far better than anything else we found on the island. If I were to do one thing on Moorea it would be this.

We had an amazing day out on sea with Vaapiti tours! I would say this was definitely the highlight of our trip! Built from scratch by the captain, this first double sailing canoe was a perfect way to tour the beautiful island! We made several stops along the way to see sting rays, sharks, and even an under water tiki statue! You could tell the captain loves what he does and makes sure that everyone has a great time! I highly recommend this tour if you want to see the best of Moorea in a spacious boat with limited guests! The captain even prepared fresh fruit which was so refreshing and delicious after all the swimming! I can’t wait to go back to this island! Thank you Vaapiti for a great time!
