We did the cross island walk via the Needle in October 2017. We were expecting a bit of a challenge based on what we'd heard and other reviews, but the entire crossing from the car-park on the northern side to our cabin on the beach...More

Visited this as part of the 'Crossing' walk, it's a reasonably challenging track and in need of some serious repairs. The needle has amazing views Nd worth the effort.

When my teacher told me we were going om a 4hr hike, I did not expect the walk. I thought I was going to quit halfway through like I usually do, but I did it and the view at the top was great and so...More

We did this after rain and it was slippery underfoot. You need trail shoes at least - some people were doing it in sandals, and that didn't seem like a good idea. Wonderful views from the top. Challenging in places (think tree roots for ladder...More

We're retired, but fit and found the walk was 'easy'. Don't do it if you aren't used to bush walking and the occasional scramble. We went with Pa's, but it would be ok to do it yourself. The Whale Center still sells a booklet about...More

Third trip to Rarotonga and finally did the across island walk. They ascent certainly requires a good level of fitness. It is mainly uphill and no set path for 30 - 40 mins. My heart was certainly racing at times and I had to stop...More

A beautiful walk up to Te Rua Manga. Certainly a level of fitness is required for the climb up and down the other side. The track is rugged and natural, but adequately marked with little orange arrows to direct you on the right path. Path...More

You could... There are a few places where we used both hands to climb and it was slippery on the way down... Depends a bit if you are doing it alone or with another who could arrest a slip. I probably wouldn't do it alone... More
