This reserve is a tropical forest that has been set aside primarily to conserve the Kakerori bird, Rarotonga's endangered flycatcher. Additionally, the area contains several rare plants and is home to a number of other bird species.

Had a wonderful guide who took us to the top of the conservation area. The hike was grueling but shockingly short. The views were 100% worth the climb !!! The birds are beautiful and echo your whistles.

This is a genuine conservation area rather than a tourist attraction and so is really something that would appeal to genuine bird lovers as the area contains the only kakerori birds in the world which are very endangered and were only saved by the dedication...More
