You can learn a lot of history about Dutch Harbor and neighboring islands that were occupied by the Japanese during WWII. Very interesting.

We were on a cruise ship that stopped for a day in Dutch Harbor. One of the attractions was the Museum of the Aleutians, a smallish building that housed mostly World War Two related exhibits. Contrary to what another reviewer said, there is a small...More

Located in the WWII airport control tower, this museum is very easy to find. Entry is free of charge. There are original photos, news clippings, maps, Christmas dinner menus, Army newspapers, articles of uniform and equipment, and much more. The exhibits occupy just about every...More

I thought I was pretty 'Au Fait' with Events of WWII. An hour here exposed that, big time. Very interesting, informative, sensible and logically laid-out and lacking too much patriotic jingoism, since it was highly facts-based. I did not know that the Japanese had occupied...More

This museum is located near the airport. We learned about the history of the area during world war II. They have many publications for additional learning.

Learn about the area, the history, the people. This museum is very well done, easy to understand, with interesting displays. It will not take much of your time and is well worth a stop. And don't miss the upstairs.

Enjoyed this museum. There are many authentic items and any reproductions are clearly labeled. I think it clearly tells a difficult story. Gave it a four because the attendant was 20 minutes late arriving to open. We almost called a taxi and left. The hours...More

Well put together. Not a big exhibition but very informative. A lot of history. Maybe we all do not know about what these people went through at that time.

This museum tells a two stories. One is how Japanese forces bombed and shot up the island for two days in 1942. So this one is the armed forces story. The second story is a sad one. After that attack the local people from all...More
