This place has very interesting history from 1897 first being a post office and continued..... and for that worth the visit while in Homer. Lots of beer selection and other drinks. Lovely back outdoor if weather permits to sit. Dollar decor on the walls and...More

The Salty Dog is a great Roadhouse to stop by for a beer and to lookie loo at the interior. There are many great items for sale.

Everybody said we needed to come here. I am not sure why. It is VERY small inside. There are dollar bills with peoples names attached to every flat surface. The whole place just felt dirty and claustrophobic to me. The bartender was just shy of...More

A fun place to stop in for a beer/drink, sit at a communal table and talk to your neighbors, either about fishing trips or Alaska. The walls and ceiling are wallpapered with $1 bills. Be sure to pin one with your name written on it!

This was a great spot to grab a drink on the spit. The staff was friendly and bar full of so much character.

We stopped in this unique bar to have a drink before dinner. It is very small but fine for early evening. The drinks we got were good but there was not a big selection of mixed drinks.

A visit to Homer and the Spit would not be complete without a stop at the Salty Dog. From money stapled to the walls to the sawdust on the floors the uniqueness of this place screams "stop here". Don't pass this place up.

I don't know about kids. Didn't see any when we were there. No food. It is definitely a dive bar.
