On the one main road on Homer Spit, Alaska, a weathered bronze statue of a fisherman, symbolic of all those souls lost at sea in one of the world's deadliest jobs. The statue is situated under a gazebo, the pillars of which contain the weathered...More

This monument is easy to find in Homer, as you drive to a fine stripe line road, to your right you'll see the monument. Behind you have beautiful view of Kachemak Bay. Commercial fishing vessels also use the boat harbor and they have a much...More

Statue on right overlooking inlet as you drive onto Spit. Free parking immediately adjacent to it. A five-minute stop, but nothing special. Nice pic opportunity, but wouldn't stop again.

This is a lovely peaceful memorial past the shores, closer to the water. It was beautifully created, and would have been nicer if someone hadn’t strapped their own dried flower wreath to the seafarer's hands. (It looked like it had been there awhile, so does...More

Nice little memorial. Heartbreaking to see some of the pictures of victims of the sea as some were very young when it came calling.

This is on the Homer Spit and is a nice place to stop by as you are shopping or on your way to the Salty Dawg for a pint!

Pay tribute to those who have lost their lives on the sea. Incredible beauty doesn't come without its dangers. Respect the sea and those who make their livings on it.

Nicely designed memorial. We enjoyed riding our bikes out the spit to see it and other things along the way. There is a very nice view of the bay from the benches available at this location.
