Mendenhall Glacier was amazing

Spent a day at Mendenhall Glacier with daughter and girlfirend. We did a hike up to the glacier. What a fabulous day! A must do if you go to Juneau

So gorgeous. Just go and take in nature's finery. In addition to the glacier we saw a beaver dam and we're told that it's common to see bears fishing for salmon in the summer.

We cruised in June of 2015 and thought we do most excursions through the ship to ensure they don't leave without us this is one place easily done for half the cost on your own. You can take a shuttle bus to the glacier as soon as you exit the ship for about $10 each way. The ride is about... More

Nice walk to see it up close but it is worth the effort. Just take your time and enjoy the scenery. The trek is about one mile.

We had a great local driver who gave us a great narrative on the way out. The glacier was beautiful! Worth the time the ride and the exspense.

Nature in all it's splendor.... noplace else will you see this untouched beauty. The entire part of Alaska we saw was the most beautiful nature we've experienced. Untouched beauty. Unless you've experienced it, you cannot even imagine the peacefulness.

The Mendenhall Glacier involves an easy flat walk along the beach that brings you up to a great waterfall and close to the glacier. Since it was winter, we could walk quite a way on the ice. If you go in winter, you might want to use a set of traction cleats or Stabilicers. The Visitor Center is great, too.
