Gold Rush Dog Tours highlights summer cart-mushing in the picturesque Sheep...

Gold Rush Dog Tours highlights summer cart-mushing in the picturesque Sheep Creek in Juneau, Alaska. Your approach to dog-camp will bring you by the relics of Juneau's famed mining history, transporting you through the rain forest from sea level to our mountain valley home.

While in camp, you will meet the Handlers and Mushers of Sheep Creek, as well as their teammates, the famed dogs of Alaska's official state sport.

Following proper introductions, dog sled history, and a little mushing 101, you will take to our specially designed trainer carts for a 20-15 minute ride. Be sure to watch for porcupine, eagles, and even the potential black bear along the way.

And then, there's cookies. Upon returning, it's time to crab a cookie and hot cup of cocoa prior to departing ways for your next adventure.

Gold Rush Sled Dogs is ideal for groups and mushers of all ages. We look forward to seeing you this summer, happy tails!

I was on the Star Princess and I booked the dog sledge expedition with the cruise. I was disappointed when I was saw that it was raining when the ship arrived in Juneau. All the poor dogs were chained up and in the rain. We were provided with rain coats. The ride was good but it would have been excellent... More

Matt and his team are just amazing and very informative ! My wife and I both loved learning about the dogs and the race but the best part is getting to see and interact with the dogs. The entire "gold rush" experience from panning for gold with the "crazy old man" to the train ride was well worth the money!... More

Maliko and Mark were great on our dog sled run. We got introduced to all the dogs that where going to be pulling our sled and we all got to pat each one. Maliko's knowledge of the Alaskan Husky and sled dog racing was incredible. It was fascinating to learn about the origins of the breed and the history behind... More

We stopped by for a brief ~1 hr presentation as part of our bus ride from Skagway to catch the White Pass Railway train back to town. Matt and his team did a great job and are clearly passionate about both their sport and their dogs. As a 7 time Iditarod participant his description of the event, and his priorities... More

We were quite disappointed in this excursion after all the great reviews we were really excited to try it. But we ended up only running the dogs for maybe a max of 15 minutes in which we rested for about five minutes during the run because they said it was too hot for the dogs. The website says you'll be... More

We had a great time on this tour!! Our guide Alan was an Iditarod veteran, and a wealth of dog knowledge. It was great learning about the history of dog mushing and the Alaskan husky, plus playing with all the dogs was a blast! So sweet and they each have such a great personality. We really enjoyed everything about this... More

SO worth a trip! The camp is beautiful, the dogs clearly happy and well cared for, and the "sled" ride enjoyable. My husband and I had a blast, and were particularly impressed with our guide, Alan. A word to the wise: if you get carsick, take some dramamine! The dog ride is smooth but the bus ride up there is... More

Our guide, Alan, had participated in the Iditarod in 2015, and it was fascinating to hear him talk about everything involved. The kids loved meeting the dogs and the taking the sled tour. Definitely worth a visit.
