Since my hubby and I visited Ketchikan as one of our cruise ship ports and during salmon season we walked along Ketchikan Creek to see the salmon by the thousands! Find Park Street and walk along the creek where you will find deep holes, small waterfalls under the street bridge (where salmon are jumping up the falls), and continue along Park Street until you come to the city park. We took our time so we could soak in the sounds of the water, take lots of pictures with salmon, watch a couple fishing for salmon, and just meander in the quiet back streets of Ketchikan. This is a free ship excursion (except we saw many tour groups stop here for quick photos).

A tranquil spot in Ketchikan with an interesting story behind its existence. Probably the most inexpensive construction cost ever.

this is a small city park, well kept and nicely landscaped, it has a creek running through it and a variety of trees and plants lending to is calming atmosphere. worth a stroll through as you next visit the heritage center nearby.

During our Holland America shore excursion titled Ketchikan's Cultural Discovery, our guide parked the van and walked us through the small City Park of Ketchikan on our way to our scheduled tour of the Totem Heritage Center.
As frequently it does in Southern Alaska, it was raining lightly during our walk. It was a pretty park even in the rain.
There were several groomed paths that went around several small ponds. The focal point was the fountain with a ring-style sprinkler head. The fountain is illuminated at night.
The park featured several benches and picnic areas. A wooden bridge with waist-high railings went over the ponds that once were holding ponds for salmon in the first hatchery in Ketchikan.
The park features a curiosity: The World’s Largest Gold Nugget. The reason why it hasn’t been stolen is that it is a huge rock covered in gilt paint. A metal pole with the sign proclaiming its status once stuck out of the top.
Ketchikan Creek runs adjacent to the park. On the other side is the Totem Heritage Center.
There is no admission charge to visit this park.
We rate City Park of Ketchikan at 3.75.

This is a good place to relax away from the hustle & bustle of Creek Street. This little spot is on the self guided walk you can pick up at the visitor center. There are picnic tables & restrooms next to a stream that has salmon. I enjoyed this park.

If you go to Ketchikan in late May or early June you are in for a real treat. The most beautiful flowers everywhere! Ponds in the center are part of the cultural past - used by native people to raise salmon. Take the shuttle tour of town. Worth every penny

This is a beautiful small lush green park located along the upper end of Ketchikan Creek. It is a nice place to stroll thru or stop an eat your lunch. It really is on e of the hidden off the beaten paths of the town. Plenty of shade trees in the park.
BOTTOM LINE: If you have been to Ketchikan before on a cruise stop, here is a nice quite spot in the city for leisurely strolling along the Ketchikan Creek. MY RATING: 8/10

The park was clean and very green and pretty. The small ponds had salmon in them as well as a stream there that had salmon swimming up hill.
