Apparently, this is not the original totem pole of Chief Johnson but nevertheless, it's a very colourful and interesting replica!! We loved the various totem poles we saw in Alaska - such workmanship and meanings - wish I'd had time to study them all!

We like this spot. The totem pole is easy to see and photograph. The creek is right close by with salmon and seals swimming in it.

This is actually a replica of the Cheif Johnson Totem Pole which was raised nearby in 1901. The original stood until 1982. It stands near the walkway to Creek Street. If you want to see the original it is in the Totem Heritage Museum.

Lots of history in Ketchikan, and people are friendly. It gets kind of crazy when you first get off the cruise ships due to the number of people invading this small town, but make sure you do some walking in the downtown area, lots to see!!! We tried to shop local Alaskan family owned stores.

We saw this totem pole on a recent trip and it is awaiting repair of his nose. It is a nice attraction and remainder of the native people in the center of town. I would like to return to see it after it is repaired.

Located on a street square, this is a worth a quick look and photo opportunity. One can pick up information about Chief Johnson at nearby museums, if one so desires.

Nice carvings and explanation of the totems. Set up in a little park with lovely flowers close to Creek Street. Easy walking distance from the cruise ships.

This is a replica pole of one constructed in 1901 (the original is at the Totem Pole Heritage Center) with a useful information plaque. It's located on Steadman Street near the junction with Mill Street and should be Included as part of a city walking tour - you can pick up a guide map at the Visitors' Bureau. There is... More
