The park is a walk through venue with many locally made totem poles. A guide can greatly enhance your experience by giving facts about the totem poles, the culture of the native tribes and a view of a typical house used in the early days.

I toured the island while my husband spent time fishing. I was particularly interested in the Totem Bight Park due to its historical and cultural significance. It was lightly raining when I when got there, which seemed to add to the beauty of the place. I spent time wandering and also joined a tour. The totems are really magnificent, and... More

Totem Bight is a great public park, with a collection of unique and interesting totem poles. It dates back to a WPA project in the 1930's, where significant poles were saved from abandoned native villages. While many of the poles have been reproduced due to damage from storms, several are unlike any totems I've seen anywhere else. This is a... More

Ten miles north of Ketchikan. You can take the bus there for $1, 50 cents for seniors or students. The setting is beautiful, and a nice walk through the park looking at the poles. There is a building where poles are being repaired and the clan house is not to be missed. DO NOT miss Potlatch Part adjacent to Totem... More

As usual it was wet and cold in Ketchikan. We went on a tour of the Totem Bight park and were amazed at the huge totem poles. Very skilled workmanship and a great way to spend an afternoon

We booked this excursion and was thrilled with the tour. Our driver/tour guide Ed was very knowledgeable about the totem poles and the stories they tell. Ed was very entertaining as well. This was one of the best tours from the Alaskan cruise.

Because we thought it was closed for the seasons we almost didn't go. What a tragedy if we had missed this treasure. Beautiful totems on a beautiful part of Alaska. We found a "Random Act of Art" on one of the trails. Look it up.

What a great place for history and the craftsmanship that goes along with a heritage group!!! The Totem poles were absolutely amazing!!! Each told a story!!! How creative!!! We took a tour bus and saw the city of Ketchikan. Driver was so informative about the local culture. In his own style of sharing information with us, the driver interjected personal,... More

Well presented area info and beautifully looked after artifacts. Nice to see such enthusiasm for the history of the area in the staff. A delight to look around even in the rain. Easy to get to, just ask locally for how to get there. We just used a taxi, who gave us a great little mini tour and came back... More

Carvers were working on a new totem during my visit. I hadn't seen that before but since totem poles are plentiful in the Northwest, it's nothing I would have waited in line for.
