Had a quick look around after our floatplane trip before all aboard time. Looks like a really nice place and wish we had more time to spend there.

We visited the Heritage Center during our afternoon in Ketchikan on our cruise. It was a short visit as the museum is not real big, but the poles are amazing. The amount of history in that one small building is astounding! I highly recommend!

I have seen Totem poles around but never really understood what Totem poles were all about and why the Native Indians made them. Well now I have visited this excellent museum I know a lot more. There are lots of huge centuries old totems there...More

We enjoyed our self-guided tour and found the live tour guides to be quite informative and intelligent. Glad we came and learned something here. Cheap admission. Free bus to get here from the ship.

This is a nice little museum on the free downtown city loop bus. They have old totems, not modern reproductions. They also have a hand carved Tlingit Canoe, which I did not find anywhere else. Walk back along the creek past the fish hatchery and...More

The Center is amazing with the number of Totems collected and preserved. It was a wonderful experience to see so many in one collection and to gather an understanding of the symbolism and significance of the carvings.

it was a beautiful day when we were there thus making a great day the carvings were out standing and a credit to the carvers.

I love totem poles and, thanks to our wonderful guide and the poles preserved at this facility, I now understand them better. This is a place of oral history; there aren't a lot of placards to explain the poles so you need an interpretive guide...More

What is the entrance fee to Totem Heritage Center for adults / seniors / handicapped? How far is it to Totem Bight Park from the Heritage Center? Cost for the Park? Are both places worthwhile to see if you are traveling on the bus and have 5 hours total to get back to the ship??

The easiest way to get to the Totem Heritage Center from the docks is to take the free downtown shuttle (look for the city bus that says "free shuttle"). The shuttle runs on a 30-minute loop and stops in front of the... More
