well the port is nice and clean, but the whole area is full with taxi mafia....if u need to go anywhere close to city have to pay heavy price...but actually there are public transportation in the port area....bus number 513 is going to Tianjin city bus station.only 12 rmb. By taxi they might charge you 200 Rmb or usd 60 one way. Just be aware of these mafia people.

We recently joined a Princess Cruise at this Cruise Port and the port facility itself is very good. The arrangements to join the ship were excellent and we were quickly processed by Princess cruises and boarded the ship in very quick time. The port facility also has currency change facility if you need to change money at the port. My tip though is get a pre-paid transfer when travelling from Beijing to the cruise terminal. It is quite some distance. We travelled by bullet train from Beijing to Tianjin Railway terminal and then caught a taxi from there to the port. We knew it was about 80 klms from the Railway to the port and were warned about the taxi driver ripoffs at the Railway. When we tried to catch the taxi no one spoke English, a security person appeared and tried to work out where we were going (we had the port address written out in Chinese). When negotiating a price for the trip all the drivers got together and decided that the price would be about $100, we baulked at this and then got the drivers to agree to use the meter and take the most direct route. Off course then we were caught in the scam and taken for a three hour taxi ride from 1130am to 2.30pm arriving at the port. Now the meter charge was the equivalent of $120! Don't be a dummy like me and organise a transfer from Beijing when travelling to the port terminal at Tianjin you will find it a whole lot easier.

We are visiting China as part of the Celebrity Cruise itinerary and needed to get to Beijing city. We decided on a taxi from the cruise terminal to Tiānjīn rail station and then a bullet train to Beijing South. You will be greeted at the terminal by a bunch of very eager taxi drivers. One quoted RMB600 and another RMB360 to get to the Tiānjīn station, no brainer right ? Wrong ! Turns out the RMB360 cabby took us on a 20 minute drive to a closer station where we had to get the local train to Tiānjīn Station, it only cost RMB 9 each though so from a cost perspective we won. So just be careful that you know what you’re getting. We then had a 60 min trip to Tiānjīn station, bought some tickets to Beijing South on the bullet train which cost RMB 54 each. It’s a wonderful 20 minute trip at 347 kmph ! To Beijing South Station and then a Taxi ride to the hotel. It’s all relatively easy, staff are very helpful. Use Google translate app, it’s a big help !

The Cruise Port - also called Xingang - is at the end of a large man-made port area that is still under construction. It is a 20 minute or more drive from the port to the city of Tanggu from which a high speed train connects Tanggu with Tianjin and Beijing. There is also a metro train that goes from Tanggu to Tianjin. Because transportation from the port is very limited, taxis ask 200 or more yuan for the trip to Tanggu. If your ship has arranged for a bus, it is a far better arrangement to use the bus. A return from Tanggu is easier; just be sure to use a blue taxi and have the driver engage the meter. The fare will be far less to travel back to the port. Although the port is new and lacks regular transportation, it is clear the Chinese anticipate a very high volume of shipping to pass through the port. There are an astonishing number of trees being planted on all the roads serving the port. There are also more than 3,000 foreign companies with shipping facilities under development at the port. Tip: Always have your passport with you; you will need it to buy a ticket on the high speed train from Tanggu to Tianjin or onward to Beijing. The train is very fast and efficient. I rated the port "poor" primarily because it is so isolated from Tianjin and Beijing; for someone arriving by ship with a day to see something of the area, it is not easily accessible and requires serious planning ahead.

Don’t make the most common mistake and think the cruise terminal is close to Beijing , it’s not. The major city is Tianjin and if you are flying international your airport is Tianjin not Beijing. It has flight from AUS and US as well as Europe. It’s a. Beautiful terminal but don’t expect conveniences of popping outside for Starbucks or kfc, there is a snack bar inside and a noodle bar. Your deep in China so English is not the first language so be patient and be ready, don’t whine that they don’t understand you their market is not westerners it’s Chinese so go with the flow and if your not careful you might learn something. Ge5 your own transport organised to get back to the airport or hotel and again Tianjin is the place to fly into and stay at a hotel. If your coming from Beijing then maybe come the night before. One more thing, there will be lines and some pushing, be ready, your in somebody else’s country, Chinese are not rude they have their own culture and we are guests.

This is the third time that a cruise ship I'm on has stopped at the Tianjin cruise port. The terminal is fairly new, about 3 years old. While it is large and rather nice looking, the fully stocked shops (convenience store, post office, souvenir shop, beauty goods store) are closed and locked. And there's nothing else around here for twenty or so miles.

excellent port facility. difficult to exchange money as there is not enough places to do so.only two booths open and one atm. big lines. easy in and out but english signage is not up to par. the port has a nice architectural design and it may be worthwhile to visit just to check it out.

Although the facility and surrounding area were very well laid out, about half hour taxi ride from the new Yujiapu Station, the terminal had only one restaurant offering a Chinese menu, unfortunately, the restaurant was closed. Aside from a small shop which sold a variety of sundries, travel items, and snacks; no other eateries were available for cruise guests awaiting boarding, which can be a very lengthy process.

I don't think a lot of cruise ships come here, this port is too big for the purpose. Facilities are well kept, clean, check in area is big and comfortable.
The surrounding area is still under construction, there is nothing around, no shopping, no attractions, nothing. Our hotel is in Habei area, which is a 2 hours cab ride on the highway to the port. Cab fare is so cheap in Tianjin, the trip only costed us $250 Yuan (about $40 Canadian). I know I have to pay almost triple that at home for that distance.

Having done research at home and hearing that it's a total chaotic embarkation, it was absolutely fine.
We were getting on quantum of the seas with royal Caribbean. Last day of golden week. Be careful travelling into china during this time, a lot of brits got caught up in the change of 144 hr visa restrictions on arrival at Beijing airport.
It's 2.5 hours drive from Beijing. It was all well organised and as long as you followed the instructions, all easy. We were on board with an hour of arriving.
Any ladies not familiar with the conveniences in China, pic below. I'd done loads of research before our Asia adventure trip and had no idea!
The terminal is spotless clean and all the staff very friendly and helpful.
