This is a big pagoda with many entrances. There are a lot of security people around. No photos allowed inside, more than half of the main building was empty.

A must visit in Chau Doc is Ba Chua Xu Temple - Spirit of the land. The powerful lady helped local people to come over the difficult periods.

We were on a 3 day Mekong delta tour and stopped here on the way to Sam Mountain. The street outside was a typical Asian “temple street” with many colourful shops selling items to be used as offerings as well as pilgrim souvenirs. Inside there...More

You must have a tour guide while visiting here to learn about Vietnamese traditional customs and conscience. In Vietnamese tradition belief, we worship woman. The Goddess of Sam Mountain is the most powerful God, we pray for money and love here.

Visited this temple and it was quite large, but to be honest, I don't know why our guide took us here. There are so many better places to see. Probably would give this one a miss if you do not have a lot of time...More

I was born and grew up in the Vietnam's Mekong Delta. I know that there are many Chua Xu Lady's temples in the villages of the Vietnam's Mekong Delta. Her fans (followers) are farmers, who get low education. They respect her more than the GOD,...More

We stopped here on our way to Cambodia. It was a little out of the way and not crowded. It was interesting but not something that I would go out of my way to do.

Well over 1 million pilgrims travel to Chau Doc every year to pray at the Ba Chua Xu Temple and other temples and shrines around Mountain Sam/Nui Sam. April/May is by far the busiest period with the washing of the Buddha Lady festival/ceremonies.

This place is absolutely heaving during pilgrimage season (January to April) as it is a must-visit for Vietnamese Buddhists. Great for photography and people watching.

Not so easy. You'd have to go via either Phnom Penh or HCMC. 5 hours by boat from Phnom Penh, about 6 hours by car from HCMC. Plenty of hotels in all price ranges there.
