The South Canterbury Museum gives visitors an excellent background introduction to the history and development of a wide area of the South Island. This helps one to better appreciate the features of the area which one sees on travelling through on a touring trip.

This museum is a must to go to - it was well set out, had fabulous displays, including a plane hanging from the roof. Congratulations for a great effort. Would certainly recommend.

Nice small museum with local history of early settlers and whaling stations. Also a fine collection of stuffed local birds and animals. Very pleasant time spent here.

Visted with preschool grand children. This museum is suitable for all ages. The children were especially drawn to the butterfly draws & really enjoyed sea birds. The staff were friendly, knowlegable & very helpful
