I love visiting the Iditarod Headquarters. Lots of Iditarod info. And I live in Alaska so can visit it often.

As visitors with very little prior knowledge of sled dog racing, the Iditarod Headquarters made for an interesting visit and it is FREE. The museum is small containing some memorabilia and shows a video about the race and what it entails for both the dogs and the mushers. We saw some young puppies, but chose not to pay $10 for... being a fan of the Iditarod race this was top of my bucket list. We got to meet the son of Joe Reddington to founder of the race who was more than happy to answer all the questions we had. On arrival the dogs had set up a din second to none and when we headed toward the summer training... More

It is quite a challenge to find this place as signs are not that abundant. With the GPS working, it still was not able to lead us to the Iditarod Headquarters. We finally had to stop by a local store and they were able to re-direct us to the correct road. It is worth a detour while heading to or... More

My wife and I stopped by on our way to Denali. It was a miserable, cold & rainy day so going somewhere, anywhere, inside seemed like a good idea. When we got there there was a tour bus of people watching a movie which we watched with them for about 10 minutes or so before moving on. There really isn't... More

The kids loved it! The dogs were out and excited to see the kids. The men who take care of the dogs were so nice and answered all of the kids questions (and believe me, there were many! ) they even had a puppy out there for the kids to hold and pet. His name was solo and he was... More

IF you have any interest in sled dog mushing, IF you are in Wasilla Alaska, IF you have time, a visit to the Iditarod Headquarters is a MUST DO ADVENTURE. There are many displays and videos to see and enjoy. There are many very tasteful and nice souvenirs to look at and to purchase. The staff are extremely helpful and... More

I found the 17 minute movie at the beginning very interesting and happy I watched it as it helped to understand why the dogs enjoy running in the race. The "course" was a bit shorter than the Seavy experience so having just done that the previous day, I was expecting a longer trail. I did find it highly enjoyable and... More

Stopped at Iditarod Headquarters on the way to Denali. It's a nice diversion, not far off course, and a great value. Fun for adults and kids. The museum is free and offers an interesting film about the Iditarod. You can see some of the dogs and hold the puppies. For just $10, you can take a sled ride with the... More
