The road to the mine area was closed at the fee station when we were there 6/6/17 which prevents mobility impaired people from visiting the site. VERY disappointed.

The views from up here are absolutely worth the tummy rolls that happen due to a windy/curvy road. Such a cool place!

We visited with friends up from Arkansas. Took the tour of the buildings. Had a picnic lunch. Wanted to take the road over Hatcher Pass top but it was closed for construction. :-(

This is a great historic place to visit that is not advertised a lot. You can tour the buildings or walk to the old mine. Also there is a beautiful view on the drive up.

Roughly 25-30 miles. Good paved roads all the way. Beautiful views along the way. If needed, when you get to parking area, follow signs to handicapped unloading area. Eliminates a little uphill walking.
