The tunnel only allows traffic one way. Every half hour, they switch which side of the tunnel gets to enter and drive through. We had an an informative shuttle driver, so it did not seem long. We had about a 17 minute wait.

It is an amazing tunnel. You drive almost on the rail tracks. Make sure you are aware of tunnel opening timings from both the sides in order not to miss your cruise. The toll fee is $13.

It's a tunnel. Not must different than most others, except it's one way and has train tracks down the middle. Inbound to Whittier bottom of the hour, outbound from top of the hour. Town is very small. I drove around town, visited the museum and...More

Neat to drive thru. Make sure u plan a head the tunnel is one way in one way out. There is a schedule to check the times, for cars and trains.

This is a one-way tunnel. Go into Whittier on the half hour, out on the hour, the train uses the same tunnel. Cars straddle the tracks. Dark but there are lights.

If you are heading to Whittier, or heading away, you will pass through this tunnel. A unique tunnel that incorporates train tracks and a single lane of traffic on a 30 minute time table. AT the approach, you will be lined up in traffic lanes...More

You have to travel through this long narrow tunnel if you want to go to Whittier by land. You pay about $13, if I remember correctly, going into Whittier, but no fee to leave. We did not wait very long either time. Cars can only...More

I wasn't super excited about going through this tunnel to get to a Glacier boat tour, I can get claustrophobic in tight places. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and despite what I have read in other reviews, I thought it...More

I know it’s silly but it really is fun to go through this long one lane train tunnel where you have to get in line first before entering. So watch a waterfall while waiting. Yes, there’s only one way in and out of Whittier and...More

Why not? A driver you contract will take you anywhere you want to go, as long as you pay the toll. You pay the toll to get into the Whittier area, but not to leave. Are you going to Whittier or just driving through the... More

I just traveled through there and your motor home will have no problem. The train travels through this tunnel in between vehicles so there is plenty of room.
