What is The Thing? Come and see for yourself. It is 17 miles east of Benson and about 40 miles east of Tucson on Interstate 10 (Exit 322). Look around the spacious gift shop and purchase a few gifts, a couple of pieces of Indian Handmade or gold jewelry, some pottery, or one of the many other items available at this location. Do your shopping before you tour the museum and look for, The Thing . Because afterwards you will probably want to compose yourself and just sit awhile sipping a cold soda or try to calm your nerves by scarfing up an Ultimate Burger or shoveling down a cold DQ Blizzard at the Dairy Queen located right next door. This location also offers self-serve Shell fuel with 24 hr. pay at the pump service. Are you in the need of Diesel? Get it here!

We finally got to see the thing. It was a good place to stop and walk around. Don't expect to have your mind blown. It was just fun. It's cheap enough too.

A lot of hype for the drive. I won't tell you what it is at the end of the walk, but I was disappointed since I drive an hour out of the way. If you are adventurous, then give it a go.

We were completely pulled in by the dozens of road side signs along the I 10, my other half said it would be green and slimy and I said it would be furry but we were both wrong. It costs a single $1 to visit...More

We counted over 20 billboards on our way from Katchner Cave. I figured if they advertised that much, we had to stop. We didn't see"the thing" but enjoyed the gift shop. There were all kinds of tacky souvenirs and treasures. Fun shop.
