There are a variety of shops, restaurants and coffee shops as well as wine tasting rooms. We visited in the morning. Will have to return for a wine walk and dinner sometime.Visited December 2022Travelled as a coupleWritten December 4, 2022
- L L14 contributionsHomogenous tourist trap for rich boomers on vacationI lived in Cottonwood from 2009-21. Old Town Cottonwood used to have a lot more variety and authenticity during its early revitalization (book store, candy shop, bakery, patisserie, beer brewery), but over the years, especially after Covid, everything had been gradually replaced by like 15 wineries and expensive/generic gift shops. Most of the restaurants used to be a lot better too. Merkin is the only reliably good restaurant left.Visited April 2023Written April 14, 2023

- Paula CElburn, Illinois83 contributionsWorth exploringThis town surprised me in how many stores and restaurants it had to offer. We were in the area for four days, and spent part of each there. Do not pass up the new Copper Store, where literally 95% of everything is copper. I think I left half my bank account there. They have another store in Jerome that is larger and has some antiquey stuff. but I liked this place better. The owners are very friendly and we were in there so much that they became like family.Visited May 2023Written May 24, 2023

- on_the_go_9876518,350 contributionsNice to see Cottonwood showcase their historic rootsAfter arriving in Cottonwood via the Verde Bus system we began our trek to Old Town to explore what Cottonwood had to offer. It was quite charming, on the small side, filled with the usual assortment of antique/second hand shops, eateries, specialty shops, some historic buildings, and a winery or two. The actual length of Old Town isn't much more than maybe 4 blocks at the most. It ends at the river parkway. It is served by a local Verde bus route that goes to the library bus terminus. I am not certain we would repeat our visit here next time we stay in Sedona as there just wasn't enough to peak our interest.Visited May 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten August 14, 2023

This is a fun little town with lots of places to do wine tasting and shop. We stayed at the Ironhorse Hotel which had a nice courtyard just steps from Main St.

Cute, Safe, historic main street atmosphere with plenty of restaurants! We had no problem going out on main street and enjoy a variety of great food. There are plenty of wine tasting opportunities to indulge in.

Is this still true? Do you still prefer Cottonwood to Sedona? We are looking at Sedona but, wow, it's pricey.

you really cant compare the two by any means. Cottonwood basically has one long strip of stores, nothing that fascinating, lots of stores with rocks, boutiques nothing to go out of the way for.Sedona is beautifu, and has LOTS of shops two floors outside, nice restaurants and if you like to take the tours in the jeeps, you must take the pink jeep tour. Also, and this might sound crazy to you,but while we were in the hotel room,we were watching this sedona channel with everything from things to do and places to eat on it. This one place that served pizza, along with other things kept coming on.Now i am from NY,and its RARE to go out of NY and find descent pizza anywhere. And aslo if im on vacation, pizza is the last thing i want. But this place called Lisa Pisa was showing how its cooked in those stone ovens and how she owns four other well known restaurants in the area,we decided to pop in for lunch. So they also have beers from local breweries in the area, the best gelatos and deserts, great salads and much more. But i have to say when this pizza came out, i didnt even want to talk to my husband while i ate it because it was the best thing i ever ate in my life!!!! Its thin and made like no pizza i ever had ever! The sauce was amazing and the place gets packed a half hour after it opens so that has to tell you something. There is also a place that will catch your eye and i cant remember the name exactly but when you see if from the street, you will also see every car making U turns to go in. You will see crazy signs, metal statues, think its called Sons gallery or something like that. Please go!!! Its an outdoor and indoor place with things all over the place but beautiful stuff and we spent a ton of money in there!! Lots of stuff comes over from mexico.that is a must see for sure!!! Hope you have a good time,we loved it, also see the valley of fire, wow!Any other questions you have i will be happy to answer if i can! Enjoy!!!

Stayed in Old Town...really lovely area with lots of winery tasting rooms. Went in February so the hours were limited but I'd love to return in the summer when the stores are open later.

Can anyone recommend a bar/restaurant where the locals go? We will be visiting in March.

For a small town Cottonwood has some excellent food establishments. We live in Sedona and drive over there a couple of times a week for lunch. The Tavern Grill is a real favorite. Not just 'bar food' with an interesting menu. For breakfast or coffee try Old Town Cafe. Small place but lovely, made on site sweets. Also nice sandwiches and salads for a quick lunch. A few doors down from the Old Town Cafe is another coffee shop Paradise Bakery. Lovely pies and coffee. Enjoy your visit.

ALCANTARA is on 260 coming into town n has vines. Not a big sign so keep ur eyes open...entrance on north side of road. .. bout 1/2 mile off road...
PAGE SPRINGS CELLARS on page springs road has vines n barrels etc
JAVELINA LEAP just down road has vines
Just Google arizona wineries and/or tasting room n you'll get a really nice list n map...
