The visitor wanting to see the interior of the old Provost military prison no longer needs to make an appointment to visit - all that is required is to stroll in and satisfy your curiosity whilst enjoying a hot coffee! What a good idea it was to use this space as a cafe and what an interesting space it turns... More

Not only is this an interesting historical site, it is also an excellent coffee spot - not to be missed!

The prison was designed in 1835 by the Royal Engineers. The cells are arranged in a semicircle and has a guard-house overlooking the cells. It is part of the Albany Museum Complex but is only open by appointment. We did not make an appointment and had to settle for pictures of the outside. The building was declared a National Monument... More
